Sale Grad is Now Undefeated Classic Winner
7/26/2010

Making his first start in North America, undefeated 3-year-old Golden Moka blew past the pace-setters in the stretch, and drew off to a 2 3/4-length victory in the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes, second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.

Golden Moka is the ninth Classic contender of 2010 either bred, raised, and/or sold by Hidden Brook. No other program can match that feat this year.

Golden Moka was bred in Ontario by Adena Springs, and sold by Hidden Brook at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale. The son of Golden Missile won his first three starts in Panama by 17 1/2 combined lengths, including a Group 3 race last November.

He was purchased privately upon the recommendation of retired rider Rene Douglas by the Good Friends Stable, whose partners include former Chicago Blackhawks coach Denis Savard and Douglas. Golden Moka became ill after returning to North America, and the Prince of Wales was his first start off an eight-month layoff.

Now trained by Brian Lynch, Golden Moka sports a record of 4-4-0-0 and $301,695.
