$2.1M Desert Party Takes Another G3 in Dubai
3/4/2010
Making his first start since last year's Kentucky Derby-G1, Desert Party drove to a daylight victory in the $200,000 Mahab Al Shimal-G3 at Meydan. Tracking the pacesetters from the rail, Desert Party found room late on the turn, and sailed to victory over 11 other international Graded stakes performers. Hidden Brook purchased Desert Party as a yearling on behalf of Paul Pompa Jr. for $425,000, then pinhooked him at the Fasig-Tipton Calder Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training for $2.1-million.
Desert Party won his first two starts at two, including the Sanford S.-G2. At three, he won the UAE 2000 Guineas-G3 and was second in the UAE Derby-G2 before finishing off the board at Churchill Downs. An ankle chip kept him out of action until today.
Racing for Godolphin, Desert Party has been a Graded stakes winner every year, from two through four, and has a record of 8-5-1-0, $808,467.
