Krypton Just Super in Hill Prince-G3
6/9/2010
Hidden Brook yearling sale graduate Krytpon needed every ounce of his super strength to earn the victory in the $100,000 Hill Prince S.-G3 at Belmont on June 4th.
The tough 3-year-old, bred in Florida by Fred Brei's Jacks Or Better Farm, battled every inch of the long Belmont stretch with previously undefeated Nordic Truce before securing his first Graded stakes win. Krypton grabbed the lead near the quarter pole of the one mile event, and never relinquished it, despite contact on several occasions down the lane. After a stewards' inquiry, the result was made official, with a final time on the firm turf of 1:34 4/5.
Earlier this spring, Krypton won a Keeneland allowance by more than 6 lengths, and last October he broke his maiden over the same Belmont course.
Krypton was consigned by Hidden Brook to the 2008 Keeneland September Sale. The son of Rock Hard Ten now races for Harvey Clarke and Ron Winchell, and is trained by Kiaran McLaughlin. He was ridden to victory by Rajiv Maragh.
