HB Sale Mare Is "Golden" in 1st Stakes Victory
7/19/2010
Golden Sunset, a mare both purchased and sold by Hidden Brook, became the 21st stakes horse of 2010 for our program, with a confident, daylight victory in the Fort Erie Slots Cup on July 18th.
The racetrack veteran stalked the pacesetter from the outside path, then took charge in mid-stretch and drew off to a 1 1/2- length triumph in 1:10 3/5. While this was Golden Sunset's inaugural stakes win, it was her 11th career win, and she has compiled an extremely consistent record of 31-11-4-3 and $186,608. Golden Sunset has won every year she's raced, from 2 thru 6, and has gained momentum each season. In 2010, she's won 3 of her 5 starts, and in 2009, she won 5 of her 10 starts.
The daughter of Mutakddim was a judicial weanling purchase from the John Franks dispersal at the 2004 Fasig-Tipton November Sale. Hidden Brook then sold her at the 2005 Fasig-Tipton October yearling sale. Golden Sunset races for her trainer Anthony Adamo, and was ridden to victory by Krista Carignan.
Two additional Hidden Brook graduates were Graded stakes-placed over the July 17-18 weekend. Previous 2010 Graded stakes winner Krypton ran third in the $600,000 Virginia Derby-G2 at Colonial Downs. And 2008 Group winner Tajaaweed ran third by just 1 1/2 lengths in the $150,000 Arlington H.-G3. Krypton was consigned by Hidden Brook, and Tajaaweed was raised and sold by Hidden Brook.
