Backseat Rhythm Rolls in Grade I Garden City S.
9/7/2008
Backseat Rhythm rocked back-to-back graded wins with her latest score in the Grade I Garden City Stakes at Belmont Park Saturday. Under regular rider Javier Castellano, the filly relaxed off the pace on a yielding turf course, before rallying to the lead in the last eighth of a mile, defeating rivals Pure Clan and Ariege.
Prior to the Garden State, the El Corredor filly put in a gritty performance to win the Grade II Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga. Backseat Rhythm now has earnings of over $600,000. Trained by Pat Reynolds for owner Paul Pompa Jr., the three year old was purchased by Hidden Brook in the 2006 Keeneland September yearling sale.
